Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plan to meet in July in an effort to enhance the historically strained relationship between their countries, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing own sources.

Erdogan and Netanyahu are expected to meet in Ankara in July, provided their schedules align.

Gas development and deliveries may be among the topics to be discussed at the upcoming talks between Erdogan and Netanyahu.

In late May, Netanyahu congratulated Erdogan on his victory in the presidential elections. In a telephone conversation, the leaders agreed to continue to strengthen relations between the two countries and take them to a new, better level.

Turkey and Israel have recently turned to seeking to rebuild ties after years of tensions.

Ties between the two countries imploded after a 2010 Israeli commando raid on the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara ship. On May 31, 2010, Israeli commandos carried out a raid on the Mavi Marmara, a ship chartered by a Turkish humanitarian association, in which nine Turkish activists were killed and a tenth, who was wounded, subsequently died after a prolonged coma. The ship was part of an international flotilla of eight humanitarian aid ships attempting to break the blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip.
