site.bta Agriculture Minister Tahov Participates in 18th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture

Bulgaria's outgoing Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov participated in the 18th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in Berlin, hosted by German Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Alois Rainer, Tahov's Ministry said.
 
At the forum, Tahov took part in a session on sustainable water use, focusing on water security and the role of agriculture in protecting and efficiently managing water resources amid droughts, floods and growing competition for access.

The discussion highlighted that sustainable food production requires targeted solutions and investments, including precision agriculture and irrigation, water retention and storage, modern infrastructure, water reuse and measures to preserve soils, ecosystems and water quality.

The final communique of the conference, "Water. Harvests. Our Future", stressed the need to recognize agriculture as a key factor in international water policies and called for more efficient water use, sustainable investments and cross-sector coordination to ensure water and food security.

Tahov is in Berlin for the International Green Week, which will run until January 26. Bulgaria is participating for the 35th time with its own national stand. He met with Ireland's Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and the Marine, Martin Heydon, to discuss the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2027.

Bulgaria's Deputy Agriculture Minister Lozana Vasileva met with Imri Demelezi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Kosovo.
