A delegation of Greek local-government politicians, business executives and academics will visit Sofia on February 16 and 17, the Greek Interior Ministry said on its website on Thursday.

The delegation will be led by Konstantinos P. Sofia is the first stopover of the Greek delegation's tour of several Balkan countries, which will further take them to Belgrade and Bucharest. "Our visit is intended to show the opportunities and prospects offered by Macedonia and Thrace in various sectors such as entrepreneurship, education and tourism by building new communication channels and pursuing new cooperation and interactions, [as well as] signing the relevant agreements and memoranda between […] representatives of Greek and Bulgarian institutions and organizations," Gkioulekas stressed.

The Association of Exporters in Northern Greece, the Association of Greek Industrialists, the ports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis, the Enterprise Greece Investment Agency, the three business chambers in Thessaloniki, the Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece (SEPVE), the Thessaloniki Fair and other entities are also expected to be represented on the delegation, along with the managements of the five universities in Northern Greece: the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Macedonia, the Democritus University of Thrace, the University of Western Macedonia, and the International Hellenic University.

They will be hosted by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, the regional associations of industrialists in Haskovo and Kardzhali (South Central Bulgaria), the National Association of Grain Producers, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Port of Ruse, the Hellenic Business Council in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other local entities.
