President Rumen Radev will visit Tirana, Albania, on Monday to participate in the Summit of the heads of State and Government of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) countries. After the plenary session of the forum, the Bulgarian President will symbolically accept the rotating Chairmanship-in-Office of the SEECP from President Bajram Begaj of Albania. Bulgarian will preside over the SEECP from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
The SEECP is a forum for regional cooperation initiated at the Sofia Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the South-East European Countries on July 6 and 7, 1996, which adopted the Sofia Declaration on Good-Neighbourly Relations, Stability, Security and Cooperation in the Balkans. Bulgaria has so far chaired the Process three times (1996-1997, 2007-2008, 2015-2016), with its upcoming Chairmanship-in-Office coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the SEECP.
During his visit to Tirana, President Radev will hold a meeting with his Albanian counterpart as well as bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations participating in the forum.
