Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone will be a great step forward, opening up new opportunities to modernize the economy and reducing investment risk, said European Commission's (EC) Executive Vice-President for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition Teresa Ribera at the Green Transition Forum 5.0: Powering Up Competitiveness and Innovation in the CEE Region on Thursday.

Bulgaria is reaping the benefits of its accession to the European Union, Ribera noted. She cited the opportunity to improve infrastructure through European solidarity as an example.

Ribera participated in Driving Clean Industrial Decarbonization – Challenges and Opportunities panel discussion where key topics included the European Clean Industrial Deal; Roadmaps for the decarbonization of Bulgarian heavy industry; Enhancing productivity and boosting trade and supply chain resilience; Reducing dependency on non-EU countries through local production and securing strategic resources; and Initiatives to reduce emissions and make industries more sustainable.

“We hold the future in our hands, but no one can build it alone. The future will be better if we build it together,” she said.

The event, held at the Sofia Event Center, will run until June 20, the organizers from the Green Transition Forum and Dir.bg said. BTA is a media partner.
