site.btaCyprus Cancels EU Affairs Ministers’ Meeting Amid Airspace Uncertainty
The Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU said it is cancelling Monday’s off-site meeting of ministers for European affairs due to an incident involving an Iranian drone on Sunday evening. Representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the United Kingdom had also been expected to attend the meeting.
The cancellation is linked to uncertainty surrounding civilian flights in the region. Ministers had been due to discuss the proposal for the next seven-year EU budget, measures to counter disinformation, and EU enlargement. The agenda specified that representatives of countries aspiring to join the bloc, including Ukraine and Moldova, had also been invited.
The meeting will be rescheduled for a later date, the Cypriot EU Presidency said.
