Bulgarian snowboarder Malena Zamfirova finished third in the second parallel giant slalom event of the FIS Alpine Snowboard World Cup in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland, on Sunday. The podium is the 16-year-old’s third in 17 World Cup starts and her second of the current season.

In the small final, the Bulgarian, who placed tenth in the same discipline at the Milano Cortina Olympic Games, defeated Ramona Theresia Hofmeister. It was Hofmeister who eliminated Zamfirova in the first round of the direct eliminations at the Milano Cortina Games.

Japan’s Tsubaki Miki leads the overall World Cup standings with 809 points and tops the parallel giant slalom discipline ranking with 709 points. Zamfirova is tenth overall with 403 points and has 332 points in the discipline standings.

In the men’s event, Bulgarians Radoslav Yankov and Tervel Zamfirov placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the second parallel giant slalom competition in Krynica-Zdroj. The third Bulgarian competitor in the men’s race, Alexander Krashniak, finished 33rd.
