A transfer of BGN 550 million was made on Thursday by the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) to the Ministry of Finance in favour of the Bulgarian State budget, the Central Bank said.

The transfer is on account of the BNB's annual surplus of revenues over expenditures for 2024 in accordance with the BNB Act. In addition to this amount, the BNB is expected to make interest payments on accounts and in favour of the State budget in the amount of up to BGN 250 million within this year, the statement said.

In February, BNB Governor Dimitar Radev pointed out in an interview with the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) that the Central Bank would make a contribution to the budget in the total amount of nearly BGN 800 million, of which BGN 550 million would be on account of the excess of the BNB's revenues over expenditures, and the rest on account of interest payments to the budget.

In 2024, BNB contributed BGN 660 million to the State budget on account of the annual excess of the Central Bank's revenues over expenditures for 2023.
