Bulgarian trade with Italy in the first ten months of 2022 is close to EUR 6 billion, marking an increase of nearly 37% compared to the same period of 2021, caretaker Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov said during a meeting with Italian Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra.
A meeting with Italian companies operating in Bulgaria will be organized by the end of February. The discussion will be part of the Breakfast with Investors initiative, which Stoyanov launched last year.
Opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure projects as well as in the field of information technology and innovation were discussed. "Italy has traditionally been one of our strategic and highly valued partners. A positive indication of the role of Italian investments in Bulgaria is the constant increase in the number of Italian companies operating in the Bulgarian market," Minister Stoyanov added.
During the meeting, he stressed that the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Italy is quite dynamic. In his words, it is very important to identify common actions to promote more joint projects and increase the share of higher added value products. Joint initiatives to promote investment were also discussed.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Dimitar Danchev, Chairman of Confindustria Bulgaria Roberto Santorelli, and Anna Cuatrone, Secretary at the Embassy of Italy.
