Caretaker Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov Thursday held a meeting with representatives of Spanish companies working in Bulgaria, his Ministry said in a press release. Stoyanov said that the good business of the Spanish companies here gives a boost to bilateral economic relations. The Minister said that the bilateral commercial exchange reached EUR 1.7 billion in 2021.

"The data are more than good, but the intention is to speak about your successes, as well as about the difficulties you encounter. My door is always open for the businesses in the Bulgarian economy and I hope that together we will find the solutions that guarantee economic growth," Stoyanov said.

About 80 Spanish companies work in Bulgaria which have opened more than 3,000 jobs, Stoyanov said. The Spanish businesses here are in tourism, hotel management, the textile industry, the automotive industry, smart cities, real estate.

The Spanish investments in Bulgaria total EUR 800 million.

Representatives of more than 20 Spanish companies attended the meeting. Also present was Spanish Ambassador to Bulgaria Alejandro Polanco Mata.

The meeting was organized by the Economy and Industry Ministry with support from the Spanish Embassy and the Bulgarian-Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting is part of Stoyanov's initiative "Breakfast with Investors" where in an informal environment representatives of foreign companies speak about problems in doing business in Bulgaria and their future plans. Such discussions have so far been held with representatives of Austrian, Germany, French and US companies in Bulgaria.
