site.btaDeputy Minister Georgiev: Sports and Tourism Go Hand in Hand
Sports and tourism go hand in hand, said Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Georgiev here on Saturday. He was speaking at a forum on BG TOURISM – WINTER 2025/2026, organized by BTA in partnership with the Municipality of Chepelare, the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism (BUBSPA), and the resort of Pamporovo.
The event is part of BTA's initiative to host forums twice a year – at the beginning of the summer and winter tourist seasons – to discuss the messages for the presentation of tourism in Bulgaria during the upcoming season with representatives of state and municipal institutions, the tourism business, non-governmental organizations, scientists, and experts.
Georgiev noted that this week was very important for Bulgarian tourism and sports, referring to Giro d'Italia, one of the biggest sporting events next year, which will start in Bulgaria. The Ministry of Tourism and of Youth and Sports have put a lot of time and effort into achieving this success, the Deputy Minister noted, adding that the event will be an excellent advertisement for tourism and will help promote some of Bulgaria's most beautiful natural features as well as advertise the respective municipalities. "We hope that next year the effect of what we have done with the contract to host the Giro d'Italia will increase the gross product of our tourism activity," said Georgiev.
He also highlighted the role of sports tourism, noting that all athletes who came to train in the country were extremely satisfied with the conditions offered to them.
