Possible disruptions to the movement of motor vehicles at the border crossings with Greece are expected on Monday due to strike actions taking place on Greek territory, the Border Police General Directorate announced on its website.

On Sunday, protesting Greek farmers set up new blockades and once again briefly closed the Kulata–Promachonas border crossing. The demonstrations were sparked by delays in the payment of agricultural subsidies following a corruption scandal at Greece’s agricultural payments agency OPEKEPE, despite the government having begun partial disbursement of the subsidies.

Bulgarian border authorities also reported heavy traffic for outbound freight vehicles at the Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo border checkpoints with Turkiye.

Traffic is normal at the border crossings with Romania, as well as at all checkpoints along the borders with Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia.
