site.bta11th International CineLibri Film and Literature Festival Kicks Off

The 11th edition of the International Film and Literature Festival CineLibri will take place from October 10 to November 3, under the motto “Froth on the Daydream,” the organizers announced.

This year's theme is inspired by the novel L'Ecume des jours (Froth on the Daydream) by Boris Vian, emphasizing the ability of literature and cinema to refract reality through the lens of imagination.

The festival will open with a ceremony in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK). The programme includes literary adaptations selected from the most prestigious international festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin, and Toronto, with over 90% of the films having their national premieres, according to the organizers.

As part of the festival, competitions will be held for feature films, documentaries, and short films, along with a rich programme featuring animated and children's cinema, film classics, discussions, and educational events. The second edition of the international forum Based on Books (BoB), dedicated to literary adaptations, will also take place.

CineLibri 2025 will be held in the cities of Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Varna, and Stara Zagora. The festival is organized with the support of the Culture Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, the National Film Centre, several municipalities, and the National Culture Fund. The event is part of the Cultural Calendar of Sofia Municipality and aims to promote cultural tourism through the universal language of art, the organizers stated.
