During the opening of the reconstructed M-1 main irrigation canal, which is part of the Trakiets irrigation system near the village of Konush in Haskovo, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said on Friday that there are no plans for any ministers to resign from the government, answering to a reporter's question regarding the potential resignation of the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr Georgi Tahov, which had been requested by industry organizations.

Commenting on this issue, the Prime Minister said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's policy is clear and predictable, and that the demands of certain industry organizations are a reason for dialogue. Zhelyazkov pointed out that, at this stage, he does not consider this to be a matter of political demands, but rather a search for dialogue and understanding, given that there is both support for and disapproval of the minister within the individual industry organizations. He added that calls for resignation are usually related to professional or political motives, and that at this point, discussions should focus on professional aspects and policies rather than political grounds.
