Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Deputy Governor Radoslav Milenkov said that he will not become caretaker prime minister, speaking to journalists after a Wednesday meeting with President Iliana Iotova related to the procedure for appointing a caretaker cabinet.

"I gave the same answer I gave the previous president the last three times," Milenkov added.

He stressed that he had too many commitments at the European Central Bank and the Bulgarian National Bank. He said that his arguments were well known, and that he repeated them to Iotova. "I suppose my position, which I have stated once again, comes as no surprise to anyone," Milenkov added.

At 2:30 p.m., BNB Deputy Governor Andrey Gyurov is expected to meet with the head of state.
