In an interview for bTV aired on Friday, GERB-UDF Deputy Floor Leader Denitsa Sacheva likened Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev to a person "whose GPS is still wandering between PR strategy and reality". Sacheva stated that the municipal administration and the Mayor carry the responsibility for the waste crisis affecting Krasno Selo and Lyulin boroughs.
Commenting on Terziev's actions, Sacheva said: "He sent the order concerning waste [disposal] to the Public Procurement Agency on March 26, when he knew that the contract would expire on April 10." She stated that this order should have been sent back in 2024. Sacheva blamed the problems affecting the capital city on Terziev's inability to secure a majority in the Sofia Municipal Council and to retain his deputies and coalition partners.
Asked about the State's role in the situation, Sacheva stated that GERB offered assistance to the city and asked the Mayor whether Sofia needed legislative amendments or additional funds.
Sacheva reported that her party has backed, at first reading, amendments to the Penal Code that provide for imprisonment for disseminating information about private life without consent. She specified that the texts will be revised to address public discontent. She called for a discussion on the limits of freedom of speech and the protection of personal space.
