Port and civilian infrastructure in the southern part of Odesa Region came under a massive night-time attack, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, announced on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.

In the port of Izmail, a civilian vessel flying the Panamanian flag, as well as the quay and a barge, were damaged. Port equipment was also damaged, Kiper said in his statement.

As a result of the strike, a car repair shop building was destroyed, two passenger buses and seven cars were wrecked, and six private houses sustained damage to their roofs, Kiper said. An ambulance was also damaged.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries, according to the regional governor. The relevant services are working to deal with the aftermath of the attack.

Bulgarians in Odesa Oblast number over 150,000 and constitute the third-largest community according to the latest official census in Ukraine. About 50,000-60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa. The largest concentrated Bulgarian populations are in the Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
