Bulgarian Association of Sports Journalists (BASJ) Chair Nayden Todorov was re-elected as a member of the European Executive Committee of the International Sports Press Association Europe (AIPS) on Tuesday during the 88th AIPS Congress, held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.
After becoming the first Bulgarian in the leadership of AIPS Europe four years ago in Rome, Todorov has now once again received the confidence of the delegates in the Olympic capital Lausanne to be part of the governing body for the period 2026–2030.
AIPS was founded in 1924 on the eve of the Olympic Games in Paris, with Bulgaria among the founding countries. At that time, Chavdar Stotoylov was elected to the organization’s Executive Committee, becoming a member of the first governing structure of the International Sports Press Association. Nayden Todorov is the first Bulgarian to serve in AIPS governing bodies since that historic first Executive Committee. Thus, during the centenary celebrations of AIPS in 2024, a Bulgarian was once again part of its leadership structures - as will also be the case in 2027, during the marking of the 50th anniversary of AIPS Europe, established in 1977.
