Insurance Brokers’ Commission Revenues in Bulgaria Rise 8% to Nearly BGN 262 Mln in First Half of 2025

Insurance brokers in Bulgaria earned BGN 261.7 million in commission revenues during the first half of 2025, an 8% increase year-on-year, according to data from the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC). During the same period of 2024, brokers’ commission income amounted to BGN 242.4 million, or BGN 19.3 million less.

The average commission share relative to premium income remained stable at 19.8%, unchanged from the first half of 2024.

Insurance brokers headquartered in Bulgaria generated BGN 1.319 billion in gross written premiums for the period, marking a 7.5% year-on-year growth, or nearly BGN 93 million more. Including brokers based abroad but operating in Bulgaria, the total premium volume reached BGN 1.493 billion by the end of June 2025. The figures are based on reports from 343 out of 345 registered brokers.

The highest commission-to-premium ratio was reported for unit-linked life insurance, at 36.5%. For motor third-party liability insurance, brokers’ average commission share stood at 15.5%, with premium income of BGN 487.9 million and commission income of BGN 75.6 million in the first half of 2025.

For land vehicle insurance (excluding rail vehicles), premium income totaled BGN 452.7 million, while related commissions amounted to BGN 112.2 million, representing an average share of 24.8% of premium income.
