The Bulgarian feature film The Wedding is showing Wednesday in Vancouver as Bulgaria’s entry at the European Film Festival (EUFF), the Bulgarian-Canadian Society of British Columbia said on social media.

The film is directed by Magdalena Ralcheva and is based on a short story by Bulgarian classic Nikolay Haytov.

The annual European Film Festival 2025 runs in Vancouver from November 13 to 26.

The Wedding is a story set in Bulgaria's Rhodope Mountains. The film cast includes Ralitsa Stoyanova, Radoslav Vladimirov, Velislav Pavlov, Vasil Banov, Svetlana Yancheva, Gergana Dandanova, and Mikhail Mutafov. The cinematography is by Emil Hristov.

The Wedding has been recognized with several awards, including Best Film at the Jaipur International Film Festival 2025 and the Critics’ Prize at the Golden Rose National Festival of Bulgarian Cinema in 2024.
