site.btaParliament Chair: Violence Against and Among Children Has No Place in Our Lives
On the occasion of the illumination of the historic Parliament building in blue for the campaign against violence involving children, entitled Be Brave, Be Good, National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan said that "violence against children and between children has no place in our lives, and we are united in opposing this phenomenon", the National Assembly’s press service reported on Thursday.
Nazaryan noted that the legislature’s support for the initiative reflects its commitment to seeking solutions to this painful societal problem. Only through joint efforts can a calmer and safer environment be created—one that encourages children to develop their abilities and grow into confident and well-rounded individuals, she said. Parliament’s participation aims to promote the Be Brave, Be Good campaign and raise public awareness and sensitivity to issues affecting children, Nazaryan added.
Across the country on Thursday, landmark buildings were lit in blue and broadcast a specially produced audio message against violence involving children. The initiative is part of the National Campaign of the State Agency for Child Protection marking the 36th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
