Interior Minister Daniel Mitov said here Friday that his resignation from the government is not on the agenda. "[GERB leader] Boyko Borissov did not request my resignation and the matter is not currently under consideration," he told the press after a meeting of the GERB top leadership with the participation of government ministers, MPs and local party coordinators.

Mitov explained that the outcome of the local elections in Pazardzhik last weekend call for an investigation and one has been launched.

In this election MRF - New Beginning emerged as the biggest local force and GERB slumped to the six place amid wide-spread concern about the election's integrity.

Mitov confirmed that the Pazardzhik police chief has been dismissed due to failures in oversight.

In remarks prompted by the Pazardzhik elections results on October 14, Borissov called Daniel Mitov "a liability" and said that either Mitov or the local police chief must go.
