The Council of Ministers decided at its regular meeting on Wednesday to open a Faculty of Digital and Green Technologies at Trakia University in Stara Zagora at the request of the university.

Among the university's motives for creating the new faculty is the acute need in the national and regional labour market for specialists in information and green technologies in the context of the global policy of business digitization and the introduction of clean technologies. Interest in such specialists has been expressed by local businesses, municipal and regional authorities, and non-governmental organizations. There is also sustained interest among students themselves in studying in the professional fields of Informatics and Computer Science and Energy.

The specialisations in both fields that will be taught at the new faculty are Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity and E-Government, Sustainable and Green Energy, Thermal Energy and Environmental Technologies and Systems, Smart and Green Energy Systems, and Energy Conversion Technologies and Systems. The training will be in full-time and part-time formats for the acquisition of bachelor's and master's degrees.

The opening of the faculty has been approved by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency.
