Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan held a meeting in Bucharest with a delegation from international credit rating agency Moody’s, as part of the agency’s regular visits to the country, the government’s press service said in a statement on Wednesday.

The talks focused on the Romanian government’s measures to address the budgetary imbalance, as well as issues related to political stability.

Bolojan noted that Romania is facing a budgetary crisis, which he believes can be overcome through a coordinated package of actions aimed at reducing public spending, increasing budget revenues, and prioritizing public investment. He added that further reform measures will follow, targeting better financing, a phased allocation of investments, and the correction of existing inequalities.

The meeting also addressed Romania’s position in the current regional context, its relations with the European Union, levels of military spending, and other external challenges.

Attending the meeting were also Romania’s Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare and head of the General Directorate of Treasury and Public Debt, Stefan Nanu.
