On the occasion of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the National Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) honoured contributors and partners for their long-standing and active involvement in fulfilling the organization’s mission, the BRC press office reported on Thursday.
The BRC leadership and attendees at the ceremony observed a minute of silence in memory of the BRC-Montana staff who tragically lost their lives several days ago. Maya Roydeva, Nadka Chipeva and Rozalin Lazarov were posthumously awarded with medals of merit for their committed service.
The BRC President Acad. Hristo Grigorov said that the birthday of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross, is a day to celebrate “the noble and proactive mission of the Red Cross organizations”.
The event was attended by BRC Director General Prof. Dr. Krasimir Gigov, Deputy Directors General Dr. Slavita Dzhambazova, Dr. Nadezhda Todorovska, and Krassimira Nikolcheva, the organization’s Secretary General Dr. Sofia Stoimenova, volunteers, staff, representatives of partner organizations and supporters, as well as Dr. Sait Saiti, Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia.
Congratulatory messages for May 8 were received from the Ministry of Health, the State Reserve and War-Time Stocks Agency with the Council of Ministers, the State Agency for Refugees with the Council of Ministers, the Executive Agency Medical Supervision with the Ministry of Health, the National System 112 Directorate with the Ministry of Interior, ISUL University Hospital, and from the District Council of Taraclia in the Republic of Moldova.
