The Managing Authority of the Regional Development Program 2021–2027 will be allowed to sign grant agreements with beneficiaries up to 20% above the program’s total budget, in compliance with applicable European and national legislation. This decision was approved by the Council of Ministers during Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, the Council of Ministers said.

The change will ensure timely provision of the necessary resources to sign funding agreements for approved projects of eligible applicants under the program, while significantly reducing the risk of losing funds within the eligible expenditure period and ensuring proper reporting for the program as a whole.

The additional funds will come from savings released from unspent funds, unverified expenditures, imposed financial corrections, savings from public procurement, or terminated projects under the program. In this way, no resources outside the program’s existing allocation, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Just Transition Fund, will be required.
