By order of Prime Minister Andrey Gurov, Alexander Traykov has been appointed Deputy Minister of Culture, the press centre of the Culture Ministry announced here on Tuesday.

Alexander Traykov was born in 1977 in Sofia. He holds a degree in History and a Master’s degree in "Crises, Conflicts and Diplomacy in World Politics (16th–21st Century)" from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, as well as a Master’s degree in "Identification, Authentication and Expertise of Cultural Property and Works of Art."

In the period 2006-2007, he worked as an expert at the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy at the National Assembly.

Since 2008, he has worked at the Ministry of Culture, successively serving as expert and chief expert at the Directorate "Museums, Galleries and Fine Arts."

From 2009 to 2017, he held the position of Regional Inspector at the Regional Inspectorate for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Southwestern Planning Region with its centre in Sofia, under the Inspectorate for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage General Directorate. 

From 2017 until now, he has served as head of the Inspectorate for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage General Directorate, overseeing the work of the Central Administration and the six regional inspectorates. 

He has extensive expertise in the field of cultural heritage protection and control, resulting from his 18 years of experience within the Ministry’s administration, specifically in: supervision of movable and immovable cultural heritage; international activities related to the return of illegally exported cultural property; protection of cultural heritage in cooperation with the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) of the Ministry of Interior, the General Directorate National Police, and the Prosecution Office; museum and gallery activities and protection of movable cultural property; conducting field archaeological research; spatial planning protection of immovable cultural property, among others.
