Ophelia Tsvetanova is opening an exhibition of silk paintings titled “Rhapsody in Colors.” The exhibition will be on display from March 1 to 16 at Sofia’s Central Market Hall in Sofia. The official opening will take place on March 1, the artist said.
Ophelia Tsvetanova was born and lives in Sofia. She is an economist by education, holding a doctoral degree, but an artist by vocation. She has lived for extended periods in Tunisia, France, and Russia. Her time in Moscow during the 1990s revealed to her the secrets of painting on silk. In Moscow, she attended specialized courses with two prominent Russian artists in the field of batik, and it was in silk that she discovered the material that matched her inner artistic sensibility.
Since 2000, she has held 13 solo exhibitions in Sofia and participated in group exhibitions in Berlin, Sofia, and Plovdiv. Three main themes are present in her works: the magical beauty of mountains, the enchantment of the underwater realm, and abstraction. Her artworks are owned by collectors in Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic, the United States, Japan, and South Africa.
