site.btaMobile Exhibition Brings Pernik’s Coal-Mining Past to Sofia

A mobile exhibition of the Historical Museum in the western town of Pernik, titled The City of Black Gold, will be presented at the National Historical Museum in Sofia. It opens February 24 in the museum’s temporary exhibition hall, the host museum announced.

The exhibition features ten panels with archival photographs from the museum’s collection, as well as objects related to mining from Pernik's Mining Museum. The exhibition is curated by Desislava Milanova of the Pernik Historical Museum.

Funded by the Culture Ministry, the project that brings the exhibition to Sofia aims to tell the history of Pernik through the lens of coal mining - an industry that shaped the city’s economic, social, and cultural development for more than a century, representatives of the National Historical Museum say.
