The experience and challenges facing Bulgaria and Poland in the implementation of strategic transport projects were discussed at a meeting between Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov and Polish Ambassador to Bulgaria Maciej Szymanski, the Transport Ministry said Thursday.

"Bulgaria supports Poland's initiative to sign a joint declaration of 11 European Union member states to cooperate and strengthen investment in transport infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe," Gvozdeykov said at the meeting.

This will be one of the main topics of a high-level forum to be held in early September in Poland.

Opportunities for exchanging experience at expert level in the field of rail transport were also discussed.

"Bulgaria is taking action for the accelerated development of rail transport, and we will benefit from Poland's experience in this direction," Gvozdeykov added.

Ambassador Szymanski briefed Gvozdeykov on the measures taken by Poland in terms of road safety and expressed readiness for Polish specialists to share with Bulgarian experts the best practices in this field.
