Bessarabian Bulgarian Georgiy Dimov from the Bulgarian village of Vinogradovka, Artsyz Municipality, Bolhrad district, was posthumously awarded the Order for Courage, Third Degree, by decree of the President of Ukraine, the website of the Artsyz Municipal Council reported on Thursday.
The award was presented to Dimov’s family by Artsyz Deputy Mayor Olena Shatalova and Colonel Aleksandr Kalchev, head of the Civil-Military Cooperation Department of the First Division of Bolhrad District Territorial Centre.
Along with the state honour, the family also received a commemorative medallion (coin) of the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade, in which Dimov served.
Dimov was born on June 20, 1986, in the village of Vinogradovka. In January 2025, he was conscripted into the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On June 26, 2025, Dimov was killed during an enemy mortar strike near the village of Yunakivka in Sumy Region. He was laid to rest in his native village.
