The Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the first training visit for junior diplomats from the Middle East region, which took place from June 16 to 20.
The programme of the visit included working meetings with representatives of the Diplomatic Institute, diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, experts from the National Assembly, and representatives of the academic, business and non-governmental sectors.
The purpose of the visit was to deepen the established cooperation with the diplomatic institutes and academies of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Iraq, as well as to present the priorities of Bulgaria’s foreign policy, the historical and cultural heritage of this country, and to highlight the importance of inter-religious dialogue as a basis for stability and unity in Bulgarian society.
Also, as part of the programme, the Institute, in cooperation with the Friends of the Arab World Association, organized a roundtable discussion on the current challenges and future directions in the Middle East and the Balkans.
Minister Georg Georgiev handed over the certificates to the participants at an official ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in his opening address to them, stressed that at a time when the world is torn by conflicts, diplomats in Bulgaria are creating ties as a basis for peace.
