Mountain hiking conditions are good, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) with the Bulgarian Red Cross told BTA on Friday.

The weather is mostly clear, sunny and calm. The MRS recommends that tourists who choose to hike in the mountains check the weather forecast for the area, as thunderstorms are common in some places during the summer.

In the mountains, occasional showers and thunderstorms are expected in many areas, said the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. Hail is possible. More intensive showers may be expected in the central sections of the Balkan range. A moderate to occasionally strong west-northwesterly wind expected. Highs: around 22C at 1,200 m, around 16C at 2,000 m.
