BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.
Vladimir Georgiev is the top-of-the-list candidate of BSP – United Left for Sofia Region's 26th multi-member constituency, according to a decision on the website of the Constituency Election Commission.
Georgiev told BTA he was born in 1973 in Samokov. He graduated in Law. In 2007 he was elected municipal councillor on Samokov Municipal Council, where he chaired the Commission on Lawfulness, Public Order and Disposal of Municipal Property. Between 2011 and 2023 he was elected Mayor of Samokov Municipality. He was chair of the Local Self-Government Commission in the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria. Georgiev has also served on the boards of the Association of Municipal Forests and the Association of Bulgarian Cities.
He is a doctoral student at the University of National and World Economy in Economics and Management. Vladimir Georgiev was elected again as a municipal councillor in 2023. He is a member of the 51st National Assembly and deputy chair of the parliamentary group of BSP – United Left.
