site.btaCabinet Endorses Changes to Romania-Bulgaria Interreg Programme

Proposed changes to the Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme 2021-2027 were endorsed by the Council of Ministers on Wednesday. Romania’s Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration submitted the proposal as Managing Authority and lead body for programme management and control.

The programme’s revised total budget is EUR 199.5 million, including EUR 159.6 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It finances joint projects aimed at improving connectivity, preventing climate-related risks, protecting the environment, promoting equal access to education and fostering the integrated development of the cross-border region. Beneficiaries include national, regional and local authorities, universities, research centres, associations, non-governmental organizations, civic associations and networks, among others.

The changes provide funding for additional activities under strategic projects to improve navigation on the Danube. They also support joint green infrastructure initiatives selected from the programme’s approved reserve lists. This will enable high-quality project proposals to receive support within shorter timeframes.
