BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.

Gergana Aleksova is the top-of-the-list candidate of BSP – United Left for Targovishte's 28th multi-member constituency, according to a decision of the Constituency Election Commission.

She is a lawyer, economist and manager with extensive experience in private business, public policy, European institutions and the strategic development of the State, the coalition's branch in Targovishte said. Until recently Aleksova was deputy minister of labour and social policy, where she worked actively on policies aimed at increasing incomes, protecting labour, reducing poverty and ensuring sustainable economic growth.

She holds master's degrees in European Union Law and Journalism from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and in Economics and Finance from the university's Faculty of Economics. She was deputy director general of the National Railway Infrastructure Company and deputy chair of the Management Board of the Orient/East-Med European transport corridor. She worked in the National Assembly as a chief expert assistant in the Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation and in the Committee on Transport and Communications. She was a State expert at the Ministry of Justice, where she worked on the European Commission's Cooperation and Verification Mechanism. She also held the post of chief secretary of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Council of Ministers and was an adviser on the Sofia Municipal Council. She began her career at Darik Radio.

She speaks English, Italian, German and Russian.
