BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.

Toma Belev is the top-of-the-list candidate of Anti-Corruption Bloc for Sofia's 23rd multi-member constituency, according to a decision of the Constituency Election Commission.

Belev has worked for more than 30 years to expand and improve the management of protected areas in Bulgaria, the Green Movement website says. He is a member of the Green Movement National Council, a forester and an expert in nature conservation at the Association of Parks in Bulgaria. Belev is a former deputy minister at the Ministry of Environment and Water and a former municipal councillor in Sofia.

An activist in nature protection groups and in the For the Nature to Remain in Bulgaria organization, Belev has also taken part in campaigns to save the Pirin, Rila, Strandzha and Vitosha parks, in the creation of the Natura 2000 network and in the designation of 108,000 hectares of forests in the old-growth phase, which bans logging in Bulgaria's oldest forests.

He is married and has a son. He is one of the well-known collectors of authentic textiles from the Bulgarian lands.
