BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.

Petar Stoychev is the top-of-the-list candidate of Progressive Bulgaria for Smolyan's 22nd multi-member constituency, the party press service said here Thursday.

Petar Stoychev is 49 years old. He won the World Cup in marathon swimming in 11 consecutive years and is a world and European champion. Stoychev is the first Bulgarian admitted to the International Swimming Hall of Fame in the United States. He took part in four consecutive Summer Olympic Games and was flag-bearer of the Bulgarian delegation at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the party said.

In 2013 he was caretaker minister of youth and sport. Petar Stoychev holds a doctorate in Theory and Methodology of Sports Science and a master's degree in High-Performance Sport from the National Sports Academy Vasil Levski. He also holds higher education in Kinesiotherapy from Angel Kanchev University of Ruse. He speaks English and Russian. He is married and has two children.
