Construction output declined month-on-month in June 2025 in both the European Union and the euro area, Eurostat said on Thursday.
In June 2025, construction output declined by 0.5% in the EU and by 0.8% in the euro area compared to May 2025.
In May 2025, construction output fell by 1.9% in the EU and by 2.1% in the euro area.
On an annual basis, construction output in June 2025 rose by 1.9% in the EU and by 1.7% in the euro area.
Bulgaria
In Bulgaria, the construction sector recorded a 0.2% month-on-month decline in June, following a 1.6% drop in May and a 0.7% decrease in April. On an annual basis, construction output rose by 4.3% in June 2025, up from 3.6% in May, ranking the country sixth in the EU for fastest annual growth in the sector.
Breakdown by country
Among the EU member states with available data, Slovakia (+5.3%), Romania (+4.5%), and Poland (+3.2%) reported the highest month-on-month increases in construction output. Spain (-5.6%), Hungary (-5.3%), and Slovenia (-3.7%) recorded the largest month-on-month decreases.
In June, Spain recorded the highest annual growth at 31.4%, followed by Czechia at 14% and Slovakia at 9.8%. The largest declines occurred in France (-5.1%), Austria (-5%), Germany (-2.5%), and Sweden (-0.3%).
