At least one person was injured in a large-scale drone attack launched by Russia against the Ukrainian city of Izmail on the Danube River, the Izmail Regional State Administration said on Wednesday.
The administration reported that the attack targeted the Izmail district, striking multiple sites and damaging port infrastructure. Fires broke out as a result, which were later extinguished by the State Emergency Service in the Odesa region.
Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
