site.btaAugust 21, 1987: A Day on an Offshore Archaeological Expedition at Kavarna and Krapets

An offshore archaeological expedition was underway near Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coast. It sought to explore the Kavarna Bay and the off-shore area near the village of Krapets.
Any finds were studied and displayed in a museum exposition titled "Dobrudja and the Sea". The exhibition opened in Kavarna in 1988.
The finds were dated back to various historical periods and proved that foreign ships have been visiting this Bulgarian coast since ancient times.
The photos in the gallery below were taken on August 21, 1987, and show the expedition members getting ready for a new dive and retrieving artefacts as they work under the leadership of Assen Salkin of the Town History Museum in Kavarna.
