A partial state of emergency has been declared in Galabovo Municipality, Stara Zagora Region, and the BG-ALERT warning system has been activated, Galabovo Deputy Mayor Plamen Barakov told BTA on Sunday. Several houses in the central area of the village of Obruchishte have been flooded, but there is no danger to residents. Measures to drain the affected properties will be taken once the water level of the Sokolitsa River recedes, as it remains high at present. There are no reports of injuries or casualties, Barakov explained.
The municipal authorities said the situation was caused by heavy rainfall and rising river levels across the municipality. Flooding has also been reported in the villages of Aprilovo, Iskritsa, and Musachevo. There are no reports of injured residents. Fire service teams and municipal crews remained on site throughout the night to monitor the situation.
By order of Galabovo Mayor Nikolay Tonev, a partial state of emergency has been declared in the village of Obruchishte and the town of Galabovo. The measure will remain in force for two days.
