Bulgarian Posts, in cooperation with local authorities, Thursday launched an information campaign on the lev-euro conversion at post offices, the company said. The first information day took place in the village of Beli Izvor, Vratsa Region. The event was hosted by Mayor Kiril Iliev, and Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Dimitar Nedyalkov joined the discussion with local people.

Malinka Mihaylova, head of the Vratsa Regional Post Office, talked in detail about the period when lev-euro conversion will be free of charge, the required documents, and security guarantees. Residents were informed about staff training, software handling the currency conversion, the issuance of receipts to customers, and the use of postage stamps after January 1, 2026, when Bulgaria introduces the euro.

Postal staff will assist customers to ensure fast and easy transactions. There are no grounds for concern about the authenticity of euro banknotes and coins, as they will be supplied by the Bulgarian National Bank, Mihaylova said.

The mayor urged residents to exchange currency only at the post office in Beli Izvor to avoid fraud. Deputy Minister Nedyalkov added that the Transport and Communications Ministry is working with municipalities and the Interior Ministry to ensure a smooth transition and adequate availability of funds.
