Work is underway on the automation of activities in the Ministry of Innovation and Growth and the Information System for Management and Monitoring of EU Funds in Bulgaria 2020 (UMIS 2020). The goal is to be able to automate the evaluation of public procurement, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev said here on Tuesday. He was speaking at the opening of a discussion on “The Eurozone - Challenges and New Opportunities”, hosted by the Innovation Ministry as part of the public information campaign led by the Ministry of Finance and the Bulgarian National Bank ahead of the planned euro changeover.

The Ministry also used the occasion to unveil its artificial assistant, Mir@, who will support the Ministry in its public communications.

"Together with the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT), we are making efforts to automate two systems - some of the functions in the Innovation Ministry and the other is UMIS," Donchev specified. He expects these efforts to produce results very soon.

Donchev is convinced that EU legislation in the field of AI will ensure ethics in the implementation and use of AI systems in public administration.
