In March 2025, Bulgaria and Greece registered the second-largest decrease in total market production among EU Member States in March, with a drop of 2%, according to Eurostat data made public on Tuesday. The largest decrease was observed in Slovenia (-2.9%). 

The total market production increased by 0.9% in the EU and by 1.2% in the euro area compared with the previous month.

The total market production index is a composite indicator that combines four short-term business statistics indicators covering most of the market economy, i.e. production in industry, construction, and services as well as the trade volume.

The increase of total market production in the EU in March was driven by growth in industrial production (+1.9%) and services (+0.6%). Production in construction and trade volume increased both by 0.2%.

The highest monthly increases were recorded in Lithuania (1.9%), Germany (1.6%), and Finland (1.6%). 

Compared with the same month of the previous year, total market production increased by 2.4% in the EU and 2.5% in the euro area.
