site.btaBFU President Ivanov Meets Greek Counterpart in Heraklion


The leaders of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU), headed by President Georgi Ivanov, and their counterparts from the Hellenic Football Federation (EPLF) met for an official lunch in Heraklion hours before the national teams of the two countries face each other at the Pagrithio Stadium in the capital of Crete, the BFU said on Tuesday. The meeting was held in a garden restaurant on the Mediterranean coast in the eastern part of the city.
Apart from Ivanov, the Bulgarian delegation was represented by BFU Deputy Executive Director Dobrin Gjonov and Executive Committee members Plamen Manolov and Teodor Todorov.
The hosts from Greece were represented by the President of the local federation Makis Gakatsis, the Vice President Nikos Tsortsoglou, the Marketing Director Maria Guma, as well as the Regional Governor of Heraklion Nikolaos Sirigonakis. Tsortsoglou is directly responsible for the Greek national team matches taking place on Crete - against Slovakia and Bulgaria (June 10).
The two sides used the occasion to exchange valuable experiences and discuss various innovations. One of them is working in amateur football and structuring regional championships for men and for children and juniors.
