“We have just witnessed perhaps the most brazen vote in this parliament, for the fourth time, the ruling parties are trying to push through their thieving budget,” Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria co-leader Assen Vasilev told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday. He said that the agenda has been revised to include the 2026 budget bill.

“We call on all people to join the protest at 6 pm on Thursday, so that this outrage can be finally blocked and they are not allowed to steal BGN 20 billion in debt that is envisaged in this budget,” he said.

In response to a question from BTA about which version of the budget is being proposed, Vassilev said: “All versions are thieving, and none of them should be adopted.”

“The budget that led hundreds of thousands of people to take to the streets is now going to be adopted,” said Ivaylo Mirchev of CC–DB. He also said that, for this reason, there will be a protest in central Sofia on Thursday.

“It is very important to say that the curator of the Museum of Socialist Budgets has just decided that Bulgaria will adopt this thieving budget,” Mirchev declared. According to him, the museum curator instructed Boyko Borisov and GERB to support the proposal to submit the draft budget. Mirchev was referring to MRF-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevsksi.

Parliament will debate at first reading, the draft budget of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and the 2026 budget bill. The item included on the agenda after a meeting of the presiding authority in Parliament on Wednesday, said National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan.
