President Rumen Radev met here on Wednesday morning with representatives of BSP - United Left for consultations before he starts handing the exploratory cabinet-forming mandates.
The head of State asked the Socialists if they will seek stability within a new governing coalition, or if things are firmly headed towards early elections, if the Election Code shall be revised, including the approach to voting machines and to the budget.
Representing the formation in the meeting with Radev were Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Chair Atanas Zafirov, outgoing Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov, MPs Dragomir Stoynev and Kiril Dobrev, and BSP Deputy Chair and outgoing member of the party’s Executive Bureau Kaloyan Pargov.
The head of State described the moment as a difficult one for BSP due to the double resignation - that of the governing coalition and of the party’s Executive Bureau. “Your century-old party has gone through far more difficult trials and you will cope with these challenges as well,” Rumen Radev added.
