site.btaFood Safety Agency, Veterinary Union Agree to Hold Regular Meetings for Coordination on Key Issues
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) and the Bulgarian Veterinary Union (BVU) have agreed to hold regular monthly coordination meetings on key issues in the sector as announced by the agency on Thursday. This was discussed at a meeting between the Executive Director of the BFSA, Dr. Angel Mavrovski, and the management of the BVU.
Among the main topics of discussion was the work of veterinarians in the specialized information system VetIS with BFSA committing to facilitating work in the system and to optimizing administrative processes.
Other topics of discussion included control over slaughterhouses and the problem of unregulated movement of animals, the provision of vaccines and bioproducts for the implementation of the National Preventive Program, as well as the current epizootic situation in the country.
During the meeting, the importance of cooperation between the two organizations and the role of practicing veterinarians in protecting animal health and ensuring food safety were stressed.
Dr. Angel Mavrovski took office on February 23 with a request to work in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, industry organizations and control bodies with the aim of increasing trust in the institution and improving the effectiveness of control activities.
