Customs officers have intercepted undeclared GBP 201,280 during an inspection of a tractor-trailer entering Bulgaria from Romania, the Customs Agency said on Wednesday. The vehicle, driven by a Turkish citizen, was stopped on June 7, around 5pm,, in the area of Danube Bridge 2 at Vidin. After a risk analysis, it was escorted to the customs office in Vidin, where a thorough inspection was carried out, including with X-ray and physical search. In the course of the inspection, customs officers found 17 packages wrapped in black plastic with undeclared currency amounting to GBP 201,280. The currency was seized.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
